I don’t know what happened…
But it all started with me reading a hilarious new mystery book series I discovered…
… and by the end:
- The weekend was over.
- I’d spent about $35 buying/ reading every book in the series.
- And I mayyyy have eaten an entire chocolate cake.
The Book: A Curious Beginning, by Deanna Raybourn
Quick Overview: Set in the late 1800s, Victoria is a scientist (shocking, I know — A lady who studies science around all those Victorian ideologies!) with a specialty as a Lepidopterist (the study of butterflies!). There is a love interest. There is a murder. Hilarity ensues.
Writing Style: Laugh out loud funny! I was getting looks from my husband all weekend because of random giggling/ LMAO (while shoveling in chocolate cake)
Accompanying Food of Choice: Homemade chocolate cake with a whipped peanut butter buttercream frosting (oh, yes! I know you’re feeling me here)
… there may have also been copious amounts of wine 😁 (… that’s why it’s sold in a box, right?)
It seems like Friday night came upon me… I opened my book, and then BAM! The sun was setting on my Sunday, I had given Amazon even more of my monies, and all the cake was gone.
I regret nothing.
(On a side note: do you ever have weekends like this? Where you start reading and it seems like two days just disappear? … and maybe a chocolate cake 😁)
I wish you a weekend filled with books and confectionary delights! Hugs and happy reading, my friends,
Olivia 😙
