Sleep deprivation… badge of honor for a reading addict?

Do you ever think of sleep deprivation (due to excessive book reading) as a badge of honor?

I’ve got to admit, I sorta, kinda do.

Here’s my normal pre-bed game plan:

  • Do dishes.
  • Perform a contortionist-routine of knee stretches to help alleviate pain (As my grandmother always said, getting old isn’t for wimps)
  • Ablutions
  • Kiss husband goodnight (he always watched TV till late)
  • Snuggle into bed and read till my iPad hits me in the face.

When I’m so sleepy that I can’t keep my own reading material from attacking, I know it’s time to close the book and go to sleep.

Sometimes this happens quickly, 5 or 10 minutes in. But sometimes…

The clock ticks into those wee single digits but despite the reluctant voice in my head whispering about how much I love sleep… I. Just. Can’t. Stop.

Such are the troubles and tribulations of the avid reader.

If I couldn’t only sleep in till 10 every day, life would be grand (and filled with SO MANY MORE HOURS of reading )
