I have been tasked with bringing two items for our family holiday get-together:

  1. Wine
  2. A dessert

The wine was easy (just pull from the ‘stash’ in the pantry)

… And for dessert I decided to make cookies!

All my food-planning was going swimmingly till I thought to myself, “you know, I should also make these cookies healthy!”

Yes, I know. ‘Healthy’ cookies is what everyone wants for Christmas 😜

Ladies: this type of thinking is a trap and I fall into the self-dug hole all the time.

For example: I want brownies…

… but I don’t want the guilt of eating food I know is sooo not good for me so I add ***things*** to trick myself into thinking that I’m not just wolfing down a tray of sugar, butter, and chocolate.

So for these Christmas cookies, I immediately started looking up modified, healthy(er) recipes on the internet.

At which point…

My husband wisely suggested that I do a test run before taking this experimental cookie recipe to the larger family gathering (the man’s one smart, non-modified cookie)

Turns out, that was a really good suggestion because

… um …

… yeah…

Right now as I’m typing this, I’m staring at a box of Walker’s Scottish shortbread purchased in the industrial-sized tin from Costco.

Now I can spend that bonus time reading 🙂

Happy Holidays and may your cookies be delicious!

Olivia ❤️
